Mr. Kim is a US attorney at law (Washington DC) at COX Patent & Law Firm. He focuses his practice on counseling matters for companies in the field of medical devices, automotive control logics and industrial cameras, but also provides legal opinions in a wide range of diverse patent matters.

Mr. Kim began his patent career by entering Korea Institute of Patent Information (KIPI) as a patent researcher in 1997. He then accumulated his experience as an in-house patent member at several of private companies. After passing the US patent bar exam., Mr. Kim joined Hyundai Autron in 2012. He successfully mitigated patent dispute issues against top global competitors by developing strong patent portfolios of some 1,300 Korean patents for six years. Mr. Kim was a team leader at Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency (KOIPA) in 2010 where he administered SME protection programs from patent dispute.

Based on his accumulated experience, Mr. Kim is specialized in designing patent strategies, structuring patent administration systems, conducting patent analysis and rendering legal opinions (infringement/invalidity) for mitigating future IP risks.

Recently, Mr. Kim represented Korean SMEs in the US trial courts against non-practicing entities and drew amicable settlements effectively.

Mr. Kim is a member of the District of Columbia Bar from 2020. He passed the US patent agent (USPTO) in 2012.

Mr. Kim has a B.S. degree in chemistry from Kon-kuk University, an IP LL.M degree from Kyung-Hee University Law School and a Master of intellectual property degree from Franklin Pierce Center for IP in UNH.
